Why You’ll Love Philly Cheesesteak

Whenever I’m in a rush, this is one of my go-to recipes because it takes just a few simple ingredients, minimal preparation, and is ready in about 30 minutes! Seriously, it doesn’t get any better than this!

What is a Philly Cheesesteak?

According to most food sites, the sandwich was created by a Philadelphian named Pat Olivieri, a hot dog cart owner, in 1930. He wanted to eat something different, so his brother went to the butcher and brought back chopped beef. Pat cooked it with some onions and placed it in an Italian roll, which would become the base of the sandwich. Then, in 1940, a manager at Pat’s King of Steaks added Provolone cheese and the famous Philly Cheesesteak was born.
