My Pinterventures Blog
Hi, I’m Erlene and I’m excited that you stopped by My Pinterventures to check out the blog. I originally started My Pinterventures in September of 2013 to chronicle my adventures that were inspired by Pinterest, but blogging inspired me to do so much more! Not only will you find crafts and recipes inspired by Pinterest on the blog, you’ll also find my own crazy crafty creations, recipes, DIY projects, and more.
Oh, and did I mention that I try to keep things simple? I know that everyone is usually pressed for time and I try to keep my projects and recipes quick and practical for the on-the-go family. I don’t believe you need to own a chef’s kitchen, have the latest gadgets, or have a craft store in your home to be creative. A lot of my crafts will use recycled items or supplies that anyone can buy (and use for other projects). The same goes for my recipes. Not the recycle part, but I try to use only a few ingredients and keep preparations as simple as possible.

Facts About Me:
I was born and raised in Hawaii on the island of Oahu. I have fond memories of long days playing on the beach with my cousins and fishing with my dad. I have two brothers and a sister that I am light years ahead in age…literally. I’m twelve years older than the oldest brother and 20 years older than my sister! Boy do I feel old…lol.
How Our Family Started:
I first met my husband through mutual friends at a Karaoke restaurant. My friends had actually intended to set me up with someone at this karaoke gathering, but I ended up dating my husband, who was serving his 12th year in the Marine Corp.
By the time my husband retired from the USMC, we had five kids – three boys (one in another state with his mom) and two girls. When my husband finally retired, we spent a few more years in Hawaii, but moved our family to Southern California to be closer to his side of the family.
Funny Facts About Me:
When I had my children, I fell in love with Gymboree and was a Gymboholic. I loved Gymboree so much that I knew the names of every line for several years. I even joined Gymboree group boards. Can we say…slightly obsessed?
I pick things up with my feet and it freaks my husband out. I’m not sure why it freaks him out, but my mom and dad did it, so it’s not a big deal to me. He calls me monkey toes…lol.
I am a Walking Dead Freak. If you’ve never watched that show you NEED to, right now.
I don’t wear dresses because it shows my huge daikon calves. Daikon = large white radish that is shaped like a huge carrot.
I was born with a cleft lip and won’t wear dark lip colors, so often times my makeup looks half done 😛 I do wear muted lipgloss though 🙂
Okay, now you know a bit more about me. I hope you stick around and leave me comments so I can get to know you too! Don’t forget to subscribe to my newsletter to keep updated with new posts – sign-up on my sidebar!
Hi Erlene! I saw on your latest post that you’re an affiliate of picmonkey. How did you get to that point? Thanks! I love your blog!
