Ingredients
- 1 lb. store-bought pizza dough (can make 1 thick crust pizza or 2 thin crust pizzas)
- 1 small bag of pepperoni (about 32 pieces per 13″ pizza)
- 1/2 – 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 small bottle pizza sauce
- Hot Honey
- 2 T. bell peppers, finely chopped (I used a mix of red and green)
- 2 T. onions, finely chopped
- Optional – more pizza toppings of your choice
- Flour
Cooking Supplies
- 16″ Pizza stone or pan
- Rolling pin
- Oven
- Large baking sheet
- Spoon
- Kitchen scissors
- Measuring cup
- Cutting board
- Small bowl or plate to hold pizza ingredients
How to Make an Easy Heart Pizza
Step 1. Preheat the oven to 400°F with the pizza stone in the middle rack. Remove the store-bought pizza dough from the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for at least 20-30 minutes. While the dough is resting, prepare the pizza toppings. Using kitchen scissors, fold the pepperoni in half and shape it into hearts. Set aside. Next, chop bell peppers, onions, and any other topping you would like to add. Set aside. At this time, it’s also a good idea to get the mozzarella cheese and pizza sauce ready for a quick pizza assembly.
What to do with Leftover Pepperoni Pieces?
Store leftover pepperoni pieces in an airtight container or resealable bag. These can be chopped up and used in omelettes, to make pizza toast, pasta dishes, and more.

Step 2. Once rested, roll out the dough on a floured baking sheet into a large circle, about 13″-14″ round. Using the entire 1 lb. dough ball will make a thick 1/2″ pizza crust. Note: For thin-crust pizzas, cut the 1 lb. dough ball in half to make two pizzas. Pizzas will be slightly smaller with 3/8″ crust. Topping ingredients will need to be doubled.
Where to Buy Pizza Dough?
Most grocery stores carry pizza dough balls. Winco carries it near the packaged deli meats and some stores have them near the cheeses or in the frozen section. Sometimes local pizza shops may also sell dough balls if you ask.

Step 3. To create the top of the heart, take a small knife or kitchen shears and cut a 2″ – 3″ slice at the edge of the dough. Start shaping the heart top and bottom of the heart to your liking. Note: make sure it will fit on the pizza stone.
Step 4. Before placing the dough into the oven, gather all the topping ingredients. Gently, slide or transfer the heart-shaped pizza dough onto the preheated pizza stone, and carefully reshape it if necessary.

Step 5. First, add pizza sauce to the pizza dough. I use about 3-4 heaping spoonfuls. Second, add the mozzarella cheese for the ‘glue’ of the pizza. Third, add any vegetable toppings. Lastly, add the heart-shaped pepperoni pieces. Bake for about 14 -18 minutes. Note: Check the pizza dough package for cook times.

Step 6. Slide pizza onto a baking sheet. Drizzle with hot honey. Cut and serve with extra pizza sauce (optional).
