Wood Heart Popsicle Stick Bookmarks

Valentine's gift for the book lover - wood heart popsicle stick bookmarkers

Last week, I shared a fun 99 Cents Only candy buffet with FREE printable that I created for the kids. They’re growing up and the cute little Valentine’s Day cards and trinkets just don’t seem to be appropriate anymore. Instead, I created wood heart popsicle bookmarks to give to my girls. They’re both book lovers, so I think the wood heart popsicle bookmarks and a book will be the perfect little gift to say I love you.

Some of these supplies (*) were part of a Creator’s Studio Testors®  Valentine’s Day Activity Kit that I received courtesy of Rust-oleum. Feel free to use your own paints to create these bookmarks.

Supplies:

  • large and small popsicle sticks
  • various sizes of wood hearts*
  • red and white acrylic paints*
  • red and silver glitter spray*
  • black paint pen*
  • purple, fuchsia, and white enamel paint*
  • micro sponge brushes*
  • paint brushes*
  • glue gun/glue sticks

Instructions:

Paint popsicle sticks. Let dry and repeat if necessary. Decorate with paint or paint pen.

Decorated wood heart

Paint wood hearts. Let dry and repeat if necessary.

Use mirco sponges, beads, glitter spray to add desired details. I added dots to the sides of some of hearts, beads, and sprayed others with glitter spray. Let dry.

Glue wood hearts

Glue heart pieces to the end of the popsicle sticks in a design you like. Let dry.

Tip: Make sure the paint on the hearts and popsicle sticks are completely dry or the hot glue will not hold.

  1. Hello Erlene

I like your idea because most things are very expensive on this day and first and foremost, it is important that you focus more on the day than the gifts you expect to receive from your partner. It may be hard for your spouse to get you an expensive gift or something you like due to the price. Focusing on the meaning of the day and how to make the most of it by expressing your love for your spouse is important. This is not to say that gifts are not important. Of course they are. They show the other person’s consideration of you. If you think not thinking about gifts will not work, get the gift before the day. Getting gifts before the Valentine’s Day is a good saving plan that can enable you to get a good gift at lower prices.

    Best wishes!
