How to Make 7-Layer Salad
Preparation
Step 1. Add eggs to a pot of boiling water (high heat), reduce heat to medium, and cook for 12 minutes. Immediately after boiling, rinse in cold water. Set the eggs aside to cool before peeling and slicing. Once cool, cut eggs into slices or eighths.
Step 2. While the eggs are sitting, chop the lettuce and tomatoes. Set aside.
Step 3. In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, sour cream, paprika, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. If you want a sweeter dressing, add 1 T. of sugar. Set aside.
7-Layer Salad Assembly
Step 4. Place lettuce on the bottom of a large glass salad bowl, making sure to evenly spread it out. Next, layer the tomatoes, dressing, peas, and cheese.
Layering the Salad
The lettuce should be the first layer, but all the other layers can be arranged to your liking. You can also add or swap ingredients like onions, avocado, corn, etc…
Step 5. For the egg layer, try to arrange some of the chopped eggs against the salad bowl so it looks visually appealing. Finally, top with the chopped bacon. To serve, it’s best to toss the salad to combine all the ingredients.
