Looking for a fun way to countdown the days till Christmas? Well, look no further! Today, I’m sharing a DIY Mini Stockings Coastal Advent Calendar and the perfect stocking stuffer treat!
For years, I’ve tried to come up with a fun family craft to get everyone into the holiday spirit. It’s a fun way for us to create memories, new traditions, and family keepsakes. In the past, we’ve made DIY Christmas Hot Cocoa Stencils, Baking Soda Gingerbread Ornaments, Coastal Glitter Starfish Ornaments, and so many other projects. We’ve made lots of fun things during the holidays, but never an advent calendar. So this year, when Welch’s® Fruit Snacks challenged me to get crafty with my kids and create a mini stockings advent calendar, I jumped at the chance.

Welch’s® Fruit Snacks is one of my kids’ favorite treats. So naturally, Welch’s® Christmas Fruit Snacks with the themed packaging and pouches make the perfect stocking stuffer. The pouches are filled with fruit snacks in festive shapes that include a snowman, ornament, Santa, snowflake, and Christmas tree. So fun! In addition, these fruit snacks are made with REAL fruit, it’s the first ingredient! Also, Welch’s® Christmas Fruit Snacks are gluten-free, fat-free, and contain no preservatives!
In case you don’t need a 28 count box of Welch’s® Christmas Fruit Snacks, there’s a new 5 count box that will fit perfectly inside stockings. Although, I highly recommend the 28 count box, as it’s a must for this DIY Mini Stocking Coastal Advent Calendar or any advent calendar. It’s also great for classroom parties, office gatherings, holiday entertaining, or just because it’s a great snack.
Welch’s® Christmas Fruit Snacks are available nationwide at Walmart, Target, Walgreens, CVS, Christmas Tree Shops, and other local retailers. Now, let’s make the advent calendar! Use THIS link to find out where you can conveniently purchase Welch’s® Christmas Fruit Snacks near you.
DIY Mini Stocking Coastal Advent Calendar
- 24 mini stockings
- 3-4 acrylic paint in your color choices
- black acrylic paint for countdown numbers
- 2-3 paint brushes
- glue gun/glue sticks
- trimmings – rope,jute, mini pom poms
- sea themed stamps or stencils
- number stamps or number stencils
To prevent paint from leaking through to the other side of the stockings, trace around and make cardboard cut-outs of the stockings. Insert these cut-outs into the stockings. Make the cut-out slightly longer at the top as this will make it easier to pull out.
Tip: We made 6 cardboard stocking cut-outs and reused them once the paint on the stockings were dry. We also only painted the front of the stockings, but feel free to paint both sides.
To create a cuff on the mini stockings, draw a straight line about 1 1/4″ wide at the top of the stockings.
Paint above the cuff line on some of the stockings and below the line on others for a contrast. Let the paint completely dry before moving on.
Stamp stockings with the painted cuff with various sea creature stamps. Let dry and glue on any trimmings.
Tip: Spread a thin coat of paint on cardboard to use as a ‘stamp pad’ or lightly apply paint with a paint brush to the stamp before using.
For mini stockings with painted bottoms, glue rope or other trimmings to differentiate the cuff.
Use number stencils or rubber stamps to add countdown numbers to each stocking cuff. Let dry.
Now that the stockings are done, fill them with Welch’s® Christmas Fruit Snacks and display!
