Welcome to another #MovieMondayChallenge, hosted by C’mon Get Crafty! On the last Monday of each month, the participating hosts decide on a topic, genre, or specific movie to use for inspiration to create something wonderful! Since this month’s challenge was movies with kids, I chose Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and created Chocolate Blueberry Nut Clusters!
My family loves Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We own the Gene Wilder and the Johnny Depp version and love them both! The story lines are slightly different towards the end, but it’s basically about a famous recluse chocolatier, Willy Wonka, that is looking for an heir to his chocolate company. He brings in 5 kids, who won his golden tickets, to tour his factory in an effort to see their true colors and to find the one worthy to take over his factory.
1971 Trailer
The original movie develops the character of Charlie and really pulls at the heart strings.
2005 Trailer
This movie develops the back story of Willy Wonka more than the original.
While each of these movies vary slightly, there are a few parts in each that really stick out. For instance, the Oompa loompas, Augustus falling into the chocolate river, and Violet blowing up into a huge round blueberry kid. So for this Movie Monday Challenge, I decided to combine chocolate (duh, it’s in the title) and blueberries to make small (Oompa loompa) blueberry clusters.
Chocolate Blueberry Nut Clusters
This is such an easy and quick no bake treat. Just add fresh blueberries and chop pecans to melted chocolate and mix until everything is nicely coated.
Then, spoon the chocolate mix into mini muffin cups and chill.
In 15 minutes, the chocolate blueberry nut clusters are set! Just leave them out for 5-10 minutes and they’ll be ready to eat!
Chocolate Blueberry Nut Clusters
Serves | 12 |
Prep time | 30 minutes |
Meal type | Dessert, Snack |
Misc | Serve Cold |
Ingredients
- 1 1/3 cup semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips (sub with your favorite chocolate)
- 6 - 7oz fresh blueberries
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans
Optional
- 1/4 teaspoon canola oil
Note
- It's best to make this in small batches and keep in the refrigerator for the best blueberry texture and flavor.
- Make sure blueberries are room temperature. This makes sure it doesn't cause the chocolate to seize.
- For a less sweet treat, use more blueberries.
- For smaller bites, spoon smaller amounts onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
- For mini bites, spoon small amounts of chocolate mix onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
Directions
Step 1 | |
Wash blueberries. Spread out on paper towels and pat dry. Chop pecans and set aside. Line muffin tin with 2 inch mini baking cups.
Step 2 | |
Place chocolate chips into a microwave safe bowl. Microwave in 30 to 40 seconds increments, stirring in between, until melted. Add blueberries and nuts to the melted chocolate. Mix until everything is coated with chocolate. Spoon about a tablespoon of the chocolate mix into each cup.
Step 3 | |
Place the muffin tin into the freezer for 15 minutes and serve. If storing, place in airtight containers in the fridge for up to 2 to 3 days. Store in the freezer if you want it to last longer, but you will need to take them out and defrost for at least 10-15 minutes before eating. |
Now let’s see what everyone else was inspired to create for this month’s #MovieMondayChallenge!! If you’d like to join our Facebook group, you can request an invite here.

Yum, I want to make this right away! I love the tie to the blueberries, nuts and chocolate from the movie!
That also incorporates the nuts from the Johnny Depp version! (Since the Gene Wilder version had geese with eggs.) Looks delish!
The perfect homage to Willy Wonka!
