Template Tips for the Coloring Mother’s Day Cards
Will the cards look nice without a cut machine?
If you don’t have a cut machine, don’t let the card designs intimidate you because the templates CAN be cut with scissors. All you need to do is simplify the way you cut around the image. For example, the pink ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ cup in the upper right was cut by hand. Instead of following every flower, just roughly go around the flowers by leaving a 1/4″ edge around the flowers. This way, you don’t have to cut around every tip of the flower petals and leaves. It’s also optional to cut the white parts between the handles. Also, feel free to trim the card where needed. For example, I trimmed the bottom of the cup lid for the card in the upper left so the corners wouldn’t show when it is folded over (see image below).
Can I print on regular printer paper?
Technically you can print on regular printer paper. BUT if you want to color without worrying about the color bleeding through the paper, it’s best to use cardstock (110lb. is a good card weight). If you plan on using paint or watercolors, print on paper that is meant to take liquid medium.
