Ringing in the New Year with family and friends is always a fun and memorable activity. To make the New Year gathering even more fun, have everyone make their own New Year Party Hats! You can even make it into a contest for ‘the best’ hat, ‘the most unique’, or create a new traditon of ‘the most ugly’ New Year hat. These templates also make for a great New Year kid’s activity too.

New Year Party Hats

Supplies:

Printer to print the New Year Hats templates
Paper or cardstock – Best to use light weight to medium weight cardstock
Coloring pens, pencils, or crayons
Ribbon, string, or elastic hat cord straps
Stapler – Use to help keep the hats closed and to attach ribbon straps.
Tape – can be double-sided or regular tape to help hold the hats closed or hot glue can be used.
Scissors
Optional – tinsel gold garland, glitter, and hot glue

How to Assemble New Year Party Hats

Step 1. Download and print the New Year Hats Templates (6 different templates)

Step 2. Color the templates and cut out.

Step 3. Roll and fold hat into a cone shape. Add double-sided tape, staple, use regular tape, or glue to keep the hat’s shape. Tip: add a staple near the bottom edge where the two sides of the hat meets to make it extra secure.

Step 4. Add chin straps to the sides of the hat. I stapled on two pieces of ribbon cut to 18″ lengths on the inside of the hat. Completed hats measure about 5″ tall and have a 7″ circumference.
