Today, I want to share with you an eye-opening treat that you can’t help but stare at – Easy DIY Bloodshot Eyeball Cupcakes!
In the past years, I’ve never made Halloween themed food for my kids. Mainly because most of my time was spent making crazy homemade costumes, like this Jellyfish Costume for my daughter. Alas, my kids have outgrown their trick-or-treating days and no longer need costumes (insert sad face here). So this year, we’re celebrating the Halloween season with spooky food and a Walking Dead party (coming soon)!
How to Make Easy DIY Bloodshot Eyeball Cupcakes
To make these Bloodshot Eyeball Cupcakes, my youngest daughter found a simple vanilla cupcake recipe to bake; however, use whatever flavor you like. I would have used a box mix, but my daughter insisted on making the cupcakes from scratch. If you don’t have a kitchen helper or want to save time, go ahead and use a box mix – I won’t tell.
For the frosting, I just placed it in a piping bag with a large round tip. Next, I piped two rows of circles onto each cupcake, making sure to leave the center of each cupcake frosting free. Then, I placed a gummy eyeball onto the center of each frosted cupcake. If these cupcakes were for young kids, I would have stopped decorating the cupcakes here.
My kids are older and love things a bit gorier, so I added bloodshot lines using a skewer dipped in Wilton red icing gel. I used a very light hand and barely touched the frosting to make random lines. And that’s all it takes to make these Easy DIY Bloodshot Eyeball Cupcakes for Halloween!
If you liked these eye-catching cupcakes, I’ll be using these in a fun Walking Dead party post – sponsored by Oriental Trading!
