In a few days, we’re going back to Las Vegas to celebrate an uncle’s birthday, which means it’s road trip time! Since Vegas is typically a 4-5 hour drive through the desert, we like to do a little truck maintenance before hitting the road. Usually, my husband tunes up the truck, but with the high 90-100 degree temperatures, it’s been miserable trying to do anything outside. So for this road trip, we decided to let the Walmart Automotive Care Center take care of the oil change work while we shopped for the must-have Road Trip Teen Survival Snack Boxes – so convenient!
When we arrived at the Walmart Automotive Care Center, we were quickly greeted by one of the automotive experts and didn’t even have to get out of the car – love! There were several oil change options, which included the Pennzoil® High Mileage Vehicle® motor oil and the Pennzoil Platinum®: Full Synthetic Motor Oil with PurePlus™ Technology. I’m not familiar with the difference in motor oils, so the automotive expert explained that both motor oils clean out sludge lesser oils leave behind, but the Pennzoil® High Mileage Vehicle® motor oil helps reduce leaks and oil consumption in new or late model vehicles that have over 75,000 miles. My hubby opted to stick with the Pennzoil Platinum®: Full Synthetic Motor Oil with PurePlus™ Technology, but the motor oil information gave us something to think about in the future.
Now that the truck was in good hands, I let the kids loose in Walmart to pick their road trip snacks. They tend to get upset when they’re hungry and nobody wants to be around grumpy teens on a long drive – not fun! To them, food is THE most important road trip item, so picking out snacks is serious business. In fact, my teens treasure food so much that they’ll fight over who has had more than their fair share of it. So for my sanity and to keep the peace, I picked up sandwich bags to evenly divide bulk snacks and a set of plastic bins for them to create their own Road Trip Teen Survival Snack Boxes.

- 5 pack plastic shoe bins
- Various snacks (fruits, granola bars, crackers, beef jerky, etc… Walmart has them all!)

With our truck ready for the Las Vegas road trip, it was time to assemble the Road Trip Teen Survival Snack Boxes. The first step was to divide the larger bags of snacks into sandwich bags. Next, all of the snacks were divided equally into each plastic bin and labeled with name tags. And that’s it! They each have their own snacks boxes that stack nicely, will keep them fed, and the best part – no more fighting over food!
Thanks to Walmart and their automotive experts, our truck is ready to go and the snack boxes are prepared to tame hungry teens!

This is a great idea! I feel like as my kids get older I am less on top of having snacks, but this points out that they will always be hungry 🙂
This is a brilliant idea. I am wondering why I didn’t think of it. If each one had their own snack boxes, they everyone would know if someone stole someone else’s box.

Snack stops are a must before any long trip. I do love those one-stop shopping, though. It’s so handy not to have stop one place for an oil change and then a shopping trip.
Great idea. Personal snack boxes. Less fights. Better trips. Definitely would be doing this even though it’s just my husband and I but still saves the angry, hungry moments trying to find a stop for something to eat.

I love the idea of each kid having their own box of snacks. A good idea to keep in mind when my little ones get to be teenagers (though I wish they’d stay babies forever…)!
I do not have an official teen yet but I will in 2 years. That being said it seems like the moment I leave the house my kids are hungry! What a great idea to back these snacks for on the go, great way to safe money too!
When you are a kid or in your teens, a road trip is an occasion for a lot of excitement. Also food forms an integral part of this excitement. It is a great idea to let each one have their own snack boxes, I am sure they love it this way.
