Guess what?! I’m participating in the a2 Milk®* Ambassador Program! Why am I so excited? Because I love milk! Unfortunately, milk doesn’t have the same love for me.
Ever since the birth of my first son, drinking milk just hasn’t been the same. Like 1 in 4 Americans, milk started to upset my stomach. My lactose sensitivity got so bad that I would avoid drinking milk just to prevent the horrible bathroom runs. So not fun! Thankfully, a2 Milk® is helping me enjoy milk again. It tastes just like the regular creamy milk I’ve grown up drinking. Trust me, my taste buds couldn’t tell the difference, but my stomach could! I can once again add a2 Milk® to coffee, cereal, oatmeal, and even drink a whole glass without worrying about stomach issues.
I know what you’re thinking. Milk is milk, but it’s not. The milk we drink today isn’t the same milk from years ago. Originally, cows’ milk only contained the A2 protein chain that was less likely to cause stomach gastro problems because it’s closer to human milk. But over time, environmental changes and the stress of modern dairy farming made cows produce the A1 protein, which caused a lot of milk sensitivities. Why? Because the A1 protein is digested differently and causes the production of a peptide, BCM-7, that can be absorbed into the body and cause digestive intolerance (see the video below).
And if you think buying organic milk will help you avoid the A1 protein, think again. All conventional and organic milk on the U.S. market contain the A1 protein. a2 Milk® is the only milk that comes from specially selected heirloom cows that naturally produce only the A2 protein. In fact, the a2 Milk Company ™ has partnered with U.S. family dairy farmers in upstate New York and the Midwest to expand the a2 Milk® herd to help bring us 100% real farm-fresh milk ‘the way mother nature intended’ – free of growth hormones, rBST, A1 protein, or antibiotics.
So if you have lactose sensitivities or post-dairy digestive discomfort like me, don’t compromise on the taste and nutrition** of real milk for inferior bean and nut-based milk. Give a2 Milk® a try. The small protein difference in a2 Milk® may make a huge difference in helping you to once again enjoy milk.

*a2 Milk® is real, natural milk, and contains the same amount of lactose as ordinary cows’ milk, so it’s not an option for people who have been clinically diagnosed with lactose intolerance.
**a2 Milk® contains approximately 6x the amount of calcium as soy beverages, approximately 8x the protein of almond beverages and approximately 6x the potassium levels of rice beverages.
We use A2 milk here in Australia, I agree I can’t taste the difference … sometimes I use almond milk and sometimes soy milk as well! You could just say I’m a milk floosie!

Isn’t it great?! I love that I can eat cereal in the mornings again. I use almond milk too (love the dark chocolate), but I like the nutrition that a2 milk provides.
This post really opened my eyes to a whole new product. I don’t think A2 milk is available in Belgium yet I will definitely look for it when back in the US.
An interesting post, we always use A2 milk and A2 cream. It is nice that to make A2 milk it is from the natural genetics of the cow and not some introduced chemicals.
Very informative, I have a good friend who has serious issues with dairy. I’m going to pass this on to her.
Super informative. It seems all the big agriculture conglomerates are affecting our lives in so many nefarious ways. It’s hard to keep up.
I’ll have to look for this the next time I go to the grocery store. Thanks for introducing me to a2 Milk!
Thank you for all the interesting information about the difference in milk’s consistency. I don’t have serious symptoms as you when consuming lactose but my stomach finds it kinda heavy. In Greece we don’t have this type of milk, but I found a brand that obviously milks cows the right way because their milk is so light I don’t even feel it in my stomach. I am happy that you found this product that changed your milk drinking habits!
This sounds great, I will look for a2 milk the next time I’m shopping at Whole Foods!
Yay! I know you’ll enjoy it. I bought the low fat and it was great.
Fascinating! Milk doesn’t exactly love me either, so I’ll have to give this a try. We have plenty of Sprouts around here, and I’ll look for it next time I’m shopping. 🙂
Definitely worth trying if you’re not clinically diagnosed with lactose intolerance. I really like that I can enjoy a glass with treats when I want.
