Creating the Scratch-off Stickers
You can purchase gold scratch-off sheets via Amazon or make your own in any color. I’ve already made these on the blog many times, so I’ll list the materials needed to make your own and share the how-to images.
Supplies:
- clear contact paper
- acrylic paint (green)
- dish soap
- paint brush
- 5/8″ circle punch or scissors
- paper cutter (optional)
How to Make Scratch-off Paint
Step 1. Mix together 1 tablespoon of paint with 1 1/2 tsp. of dish soap (I use blue Dawn). Tape the corners of the contact paper to a scrap paper to protect your table surface.
Step 2. Paint the contact paper. Let dry. You will have to do at least 2-3 coats, making sure to let the paint dry between coats. Tip: wrap the paint container with plastic wrap between coats to prevent the paint from drying out.
How to Make Scratch-off Stickers
Step 1. If you are not using a circle punch, print out the circle template.
Step 2. Place the template over the painted contact paper and tape the two sheets together at the edges. Then, use a small scissors to cut out the circles. If using a 5/8″ circle punch, just punch as many circles as possible using the punch. When a row is punched out, trim it off using scissors or a paper cutter. Continue to punch or cut out circles until you have enough to cover the cards.
Assembling the St. Patrick’s Day Scratchers
Step 1. Cut apart the St. Patrick’s Day Lucky scratcher cards.
Step 2. Place the scratcher circles over the card images. This part is a bit time consuming, so it’s good to have a helper to help apply the circles to the cards.
