We’re on a roll people! Welcome to the fourth “Meet A Blogger” post. Today, I want to introduce you to Kim from Made In A Day.

I can’t remember how I found Kim’s blog, but I’m pretty sure it was through a link party. I’m always drawn to her projects and I love her craft/DIY style. She has amazing projects on her blog (click the pictures below) and inspires me to push myself creatively. But my favorite thing about Kim…she is a big blogger that still takes the time to connect with her readers and fellow bloggers.

Q1 – Tell me about yourself and your blog?

A1 – I am a former art student, hairstylist, now certified floral designer, turned blogger in NC. My blog is full of DIY Home Decor, crafts, recipes with a little hair and blog tips mixed in. I love repurposing something old or new into a clever one of a kind piece for my ever changing home decor.

Q2 – Why did you get into blogging? What inspired you to blog?

A2 – I have always been a an avid junker and you can usually find me in most thrift stores in and around Charlotte. I started blogging back in 2011 when Pinterest was a pretty new concept. I signed up and was immediately addicted to all the beautiful pics. I started clicking on those pics and realized they were connected to some very talented bloggers who were doing what I had been doing for years, repurposing! That’s when I knew being a DIY blogger was my calling and I actually get to do what I love for a living!

Q3 – How long have you been blogging?

A3 – I have been blogging since late 2011, October this year will be four years.

Q4 – What can readers look forward to seeing on your blog this year? What do you want to teach/share with your readers?

A4 – One of the reasons I started blogging was like most bloggers, I moved into a new home and wanted to make it fabulous. Well, it’s eight years later and I still have rooms that remain unfinished and need some love. So you will see more DIY Home decor. I have a lot more of my family recipes to share and of course, the fun holidays are almost here! Halloween is my favorite Holiday and it takes over my blog in September. Then onto my Christmas Holiday decorating, which changes yearly, so look for more of that coming up as well.

Q5 – What is your favorite post you’ve written?

A5 – Not sure I have one favorite post I’ve written. I do love my travel posts, which are not really within my niche, but I get to relive them when I go back and look over the pictures. We go somewhere new every year and I actually have a lot more places to write about, so those will be coming soon.

Q6 – What’s the most popular posts?

A6 – The most popular post on Made in a Day is the Tassel Necklaces I made earlier this year.

Q7 – What are some of your favorite blogs to read and why?

A7 – Thrifty Decor Chick is the first one I resonated with and found on Pinterest back in the day. Some of my all time favs are Live Laugh Rowe, Inspired by Charm, Tidy Mom, Home Stories A to Z, Tater Tots & Jello, It’s Overflowing, Six Sisters Stuff and Funky Junk Interiors. I love them all in different ways. Beautiful pics, fantastic recipes and some of the cleverest crafts and decor I have ever seen. They raise the bar in creativity and keep me on my toes. And that’s just scratching the surface, there are so many new bloggers out there with amazing projects. It’s tough to keep up with all of them.

Q8 –Do you have any advice for a new blogger or someone reading your blog?

A8 – My advice to a new blogger is to relax and don’t try to be an overnight success. Set your own pace and build your blog. I would rather have a handful of amazing posts, then fifty so-so posts. Bright and clear project pics are the key to getting your posts out there.

For the readers of my blog, in life it is not always practical for us to buy the beautiful things we all see in magazines. I hope I have inspired you to create these trendy items yourself without breaking the bank. Just be creative and have fun!

  1. Found you at Merry Monday. I just linked up my monthly Connect With: post that I do on another blogger too. I pick one and have an interview style of questions for them. It is a great way to let others know of old and new talent out there. Plus, I just love showing the love of others. Happy to see someone else doing this too. Love to have you stop by at Tuesday Talk-goes live at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning, if you’d like to share your blogger posts with us. Nice to meet you.

  2. I enjoyed getting to know Kim better. My family lived in Charlotte until I was 9 years old and I still have some extended family there, so I love meeting folks from there! Thanks for the great blogging advice!
