I know I’m a bit late, but I’ve been seeing a lot of ‘my favorite’ things of 2020 and thought I would share a few things that I really enjoyed during the past year. It’s a bit random with a mix of selfcare, home goods, and kitchen gadgets.
My Favorite Things 2020 Edition
If you do a double cleanse, then you most likely use an oil cleanser or cleansing balm. For me, this oil cleanser is my all time favorite! I use this as my first cleanser because it easily melts away waterproof mascara, sunscreen, and makeup without leaving a greasy feel on the skin. I also love that refill pouches can be bought for around $12, super affordable!
This is an affordable drug store cream that is great for my dry skin, but suitable for all skin types. It contains ceramides to help maintain a strong skin barrier, hyaluronic acid to help with hydration, and niacinamide to help with skin discoloration and damage. It's also a great cream to have in your skincare stash for those that love trying lots of products because this cream helps soothe skin when you've gone overboard with products. This was also one of the creams recommended by my dermatologist when I started Tretinoin, a prescription acne and anti-aging treatment.
I originally purchased this on Yesstyle, but found this on Amazon for half the price...grr. I love that this is compact organizer can be stacked or separated into two units. I use mine to store my daily skincare products, perfumes, and everyday minimal makeup items.
After using retinol for a bit, I needed something a bit stronger for my anti-aging routine. I've always wanted to try Tretinoin, an acne and anti-aging treatment, but it is prescription only. Since we were in quarantine, I didn't feel like doing an in-office dermatology visit. Apostrophe's online dermatologist was the perfect fit for me. All I had to do was answers a few questions (think forms you fill out at the doctor's office), send in closeups of my face, and my skin goals/concerns. Once that was done, I was assigned a local dermatologist, who reviewed my case and prescribed me my first Tretinoin treatment. Easy peasy and so convenient!
I've always wanted a waterpik and finally took the plunge in 2020. I don't know why I waited so long and absolutely love it! It cleans so well and this one comes with multiple cleaning tips.
I've tried FabFitFun, Boxy Charm, and Ipsy, but Glossybox is my all time favorite monthly subscription box. Unlike some of the other boxes, they really listen to my preferences and do a great job at customizing my box. They do a good mix of high end, trendy popular brands, as well as drugstore brands for a great monthly price. I also love that you can buy one box, subscribe for 3 months, 6 months, or up to a year. I've been subscribed for about a year and love it! You can follow me on Instagram @mellowmoonbeauty to see some of the other past boxes. Use my affiliate link and get 20% off your first box!
I bought this on a whim at the end of 2020 and love it! It's like a giant blanket robe that I wear during the cold nights. It's super soft and cozy! Perfect for curling up on the sofa to watch movies. My teens even want to swipe this from me. These are also available in shorter top versions if you don't want a full length one.
If you love hot pot, Korean BBQ, or just love cooking at the table, this is a great portable gas grill. We use this at least once a month to eat hot pot or barbecue at the table. We purchased our gas burner at our local Marukai store, but this is the same model. The black plate is removeable for easy cleaning if anything spills onto it.
I have a clay pot that is slightly smaller than this. I use it several times a week to cook kimchi jjigae, one of our favorite quick things to eat. I purchased mine at our local Asian mart, but this one is pretty close. It's super easy to clean once it's been seasoned.
I never knew we would use this tiny Japanese omelette maker so much! Not only does this pan make it easy to make the perfect Japanese style rolled omelette, my kids also use it to heat up frozen japchae dumplings or other small items too.
Who knew that a sponge would be in my top favorite things?! I've used a lot of scrub sponges, but this is by far my most favorite sponge. It cleans well, last a long time, and rinses out well too. I even use the smiley face shaped Scrub Daddy scrubbers to clean pans and in the bathrooms too. Either one of these scrubbers are an awesome addition to your cleaning supply stash.
I don't know why it took me so long to buy these, but they work wonders in the bathroom and kitchen. I have one under my husband's sink to house all of his diabetic items and stack towels. Mine has cleaning supplies and various personal items. The kitchen one has various sponges and cleaning supplies. I'm also ready to buy two more for the kids' bathroom as it doubles the vertical space and helps keep things organized.
