I’ve seen TokyoTreat in many sponsored videos of some of my favorite social media personalities. It has always piqued my interest as I’m of Japanese descent, and my family LOVES Japanese snacks. So when they reached out and asked if I wanted to try a box, I jumped at the chance. And to be honest, as soon as the box came in, my kids were ready to pounce on all the goodies inside.
What is TokyoTreat Box?
TokyoTreat is a monthly subscription box that shares carefully curated Japanese snacks delivered right to your door. Each monthly snack box has a different theme, which allows you to not only try popular Japanese snacks but also seasonal and exclusive Japanese treats!
Subscription Box Details
Don’t want to commit to a long-term subscription? TokyoTreat has a month-by-month plan that allows you to purchase only the boxes that pique your interest. Of course, if you’re feeling adventurous, there are 3-month, 6-month (most popular), and yearly plans (best value) to choose from too.
TokyoTreat Box Packaging
TokyoTreat boxes come in beautifully decorated recyclable cardboard boxes. Packed inside each box will be various treats, along with an information booklet explaining everything inside the box. And in case you have allergies, there’s allergy and dietary info for each item too!
Snack Variety & Taste
Each TokyoTreat box will have a variety of 12-15 full-sized Japanese snacks that are hard to find outside of Japan. The curated mix of snacks will have a mix of sweet and salty treats to hit all your snack cravings.
June’s theme box is the ‘Konbini Snackin’ box. Included in this box are 15 snacks found at Japanese convenience stores.
- Matcha Chocolate Kitkats – Crispy layers of wafer cookies covered in a mix of chocolate and matcha flavor coating. We’re matcha lovers and the matcha flavor is forward on this!
- Umaibo Cheese Stick – A cheese-flavored puffed corn snack which is similar to American Cheetos, but this is a giant stick version. My kids are very familiar with this snack, and we buy large bags of this at our local Marukai market.
- Crunchy Chocolate Almonds – Roasted almonds covered with chocolate. Chocolate and almonds are always a great combo.
- Grape & Muscat Gummies (my kids swear Japan makes THE BEST grape flavored candies) – Gummy rings with the flavor of purple and muscat grapes.
- Butter Soy Sauce Potato Sticks – Umm…butter and soy sauce flavored potato sticks…need I say more?! So yummy!
- Mini Melon Pan Biscuits – This is a mini version of the famous melon pan bread, but in fluffy mini form! Honestly, not my favorite, but I can see the vision.
- Kimchi Kakipi – Rice crackers and peanuts with the kick of kimichi. Kakipi is one of my favorite snacks, and this kimchi flavor gave it a new twist.
- Bourbon Chocolate Sandwich Cookies – Bite-sized chocolate cream-filled sandwich cookies. These are like mini shortbread cookies with a chocolate filling.
- Ginshari Rice Ball Cracker – Crispy crackers shaped like mini rice balls and flavored with soy sauce.
- Wasabi Potato Crisps – Chips with the zing of wasabi flavor.
- Sour Paper Candy Apple – Chewy sweet and sour candy apple fruit leather.
- Maruchan Kitsune Udon – Kanto-style udon noodles in a bonito tuna and kombu broth.
- Baumkuchen Earl Grey Cake – Classic layered cake with Earl Grey flavor.
- Retro Konpeito – Colorful mini-sized Japanese sugar candy that reminds me of rock candy. Comes in a perfect size to pop in a purse.
Who It’s For?
I think anyone would love getting tasty goodies every month. This would especially be a great gift for expats, Anime and Japan fans, Father’s Day, Foodies, or anyone who enjoys getting something new every month. That’s pretty much everyone, right?!
