Tour Through Blogland

Today’s post is going to be a little different. I’ve been invited to a do a tour through blogland post. What is a tour through blogland? Well, it’s like a sneak peek behind the scenes of My Pinterventures. I’ll answer a few questions about my crazy blogging process, show you what I’m working on, and introduce you to some bloggers that I think you’d be interested in.

Amanda

I was asked to be on this tour through blogland by Amanda at The Kolb Corner (site no longer running). I think Amanda and I have a lot of things in common even though she is a gazillion years younger than me. She blogs about cooking, crafts, DIY projects, and loves Pinterest…ahh, a girl after my own heart. Too bad we don’t live near each other because I’d have a blogging partner in crime 🙂 Did you hear that Amanda? Maybe you can leave Texas for Southern Cali?

Anyway, Amanda has some great DIY projects that she’s working on, which I can’t wait to see. Plus, she has a bunch of fabulous meal planning tips and recipes, so hop on over to her blog and check it out.

The Tour Through Blogland

Okay, are you ready to get into my crazy mind and blogging process? I’m going to answer 4 questions and then introduce you to 2 other bloggers to visit.

1) What am I working on?

I think the question should be – what aren’t I working on? As a crafter and Pinterest fanatic, I suffer from crafting ADHD. I have a ton of projects swimming around in my head at all times and can start a project on the spur of the moment. Currently, I’m working on painting an old dresser with Annie Sloan paint. I wanted to have it posted two weeks ago, but it’s a project that I decided to take my time with.

I’m also working on a mason jar inspired project for the kid’s bathroom. Here’s a sneak peek….

Then, I have a quick and easy Hawaiian island chicken recipe that I’ll be posting this week.

Oh, and don’t forget my unofficial International Bacon roundup on August 30th. I’ll be featuring link-ups from the Merry Monday link party that feature bacon. If you’d like the opportunity to be in the roundup, make sure to link-up to the weekly Merry Monday link party that starts every Sunday at 6pm PST and runs until Thursday at 9pm PST.

2) How does my work differ from others from its genre?

This is a really tough question for me to answer because I draw inspiration from those around me. However, I do like to create crafts that are easy, affordable, and makes use of things you already own. I’m also a big believer it KISS – keep it simple stupid. Why? Because ain’t nobody got time for complicated drawn out projects 🙂 So you’ll find crafts and recipes that reflects that philosophy on my blog.

3) Why do I write/create what I do?

Honestly, creating a blog was something that I’ve thought about for years. I just never took the time to jump in and do it until last year. I guess I never thought of myself as a writer and that mental block prevented me from starting. Now that I’ve started, I just love it and I don’t care that I’m not a professional writer.

I’m also an introvert and blogging gives me a safe and comfortable way to share myself with you. I know it sounds weird, but it’s true. I feel braver behind my keyboard and screen. Through my blog, I’m able to connect with new people, share ideas, and hopefully give some inspiration, which is one of the best feeling ever! I’m hoping to someday attend a blog conference and meet some of my virtual blogging buddies 🙂

4) How does your writing/creating process work?

Hmmm…like I said before, I’m not a professional writer and writing a post takes me quite a bit of time. What would normally take someone 2o minutes to write, takes me an hour. I’m just not one of those people that can easily spit out a post. I have to constantly force myself to just free write whatever comes to my mind and then edit later. Otherwise, I’ll end up rewriting the same sentence over and over until I get it just right. Do you do that or is it just me?

For my creating process, I’m mostly inspired by Pinterest and my fellow bloggers. I’ll usually find an inspiring project and modify it to fit into our home or find a way to reduce the project cost. After all, I’ve got four messy kids and I’m not too concerned with projects being model home perfect, but rather kid friendly and not so “stuffy”.
