What is a2 Milk®?

a2 milk

If you aren’t familiar with a2 Milk® and the a2 Milk Company™, let me tell you what it’s all about and how a simple change in milk can make a HUGE difference in your milk drinking experience. You see, originally cows only produced milk with the A2 protein, but over time, some cows started to produce milk with both the A2 and A1 protein. The addition of the A1 protein, which is found in all conventional and organic milk on the U.S. market, is the cause of Post-Dairy Digestive Discomfort in 1 out of 4 people. Thankfully, the a2 Milk Company™ has partnered with certified humane dairy farmers in upstate New York and the Midwest to expand the a2™ herd. These farmers tend to specially selected heirloom cows that naturally produce only the A2 protein and none of the trouble causing A1 protein.

Why I love a2 Milk®

I love a2 Milk® because I can once again drink farm-fresh milk without compromising on taste or worrying about tummy issues. a2 Milk® is the pure replacement to chemically processed alternatives (Fairlife and Lactaid) and is superior in nutrition to nut/bean based beverages. In fact, a2 Milk® contains approximately 6x the amount of calcium as soy beverages, approximately 8x the protein of almond beverages and approximately 6x the potassium levels of rice beverages! I don’t know about you, but I’ll take all the nutrition I can get. Plus, I can feel good knowing that these heirloom cows are raised on a vegetarian diet, never given rBST, are free from antibiotics, and contain no artificial additives.

  1. My kids love their milk. This sounds like a great alternative, I’ll have to keep an eye out for it. And I’ve always wanted to visit Australia.

  2. We drink so much milk in our house – but I sometimes have problems with the lactose. Sounds like a good option for the whole family.

    1. This milk has lactose in it. If you are clinically diagnosed with lactose intolerance, this won’t help. If milk just gives you some tummy issues, it could be because of the A1 protein found in all other milks. Trying a2 milk can often help those that don’t respond well to the A1 protein.

  3. I’m not a huge milk drinker and don’t really eat cereal (which is one of the few meals that I would maybe use milk). That being said, the rest of my family LOVES milk. I’d like to try this and see what they think. I love that it’s easier on the stomach!
