It’s the final week before Christmas, which marks the start of lots of unexpected guests stopping by to visit and exchange gifts. Are you ready for holiday entertaining? When I was a young girl, my grandmother told me it was “good manners” to serve your guests something to eat when they visited. If she had unexpected guests, she would seat them at the dining table and whip up something to serve from scratch. She was amazing at holiday entertaining. A true master at creating something out of nothing while carrying on a conversation with her guests.
As for me, fussing in the kitchen while guests are waiting creates holiday stress. Like it says on my “about me” page, I like to keep things simple. So, I like to keep a couple of boxes of NESTLÉ® DRUMSTICK® Peppermint Cones on hand for #HolidayMadeSimple desserts.
Not only does everyone love NESTLÉ® DRUMSTICK® ice cream, it helps me keep my hostess “good manners” status in intact. Plus, I can easily create 5 easy holiday desserts that will have everyone thinking I’m a kitchen magician.
Festive Peppermint Cones
First up is the super simple Festive Peppermint Cones. This is perfect for when I’m really pressed on time, but still want to present something fun and festive. I can make these in about 15 minutes!
What you’ll need:
- 1 Box NESTLÉ® DRUMSTICK® Peppermint Cones
- Whipped topping* (use real whipped cream)
- Festive Sprinkles
- Shooter Glasses
*Use store-bought real whipped cream or use homemade. Homemade = 1 cup heavy cream + 2 heaping tablespoons of powdered sugar. Whip on high until peaks form.
Assembly Instructions:
- Fill shooter glasses half-way with sprinkles.
- Unwrap cones and dip tops into whipped cream or spray cream on top of cones. Top cream with festive sprinkles or your favorite candies.
- Place cones into the shooter cups or bowls. Serve immediately.
Drumstick Peppermint Cups
This is my favorite Nestle Peppermint Drumstick dessert. It does require a little more time in the kitchen, but the mix of the brownies, peppermint ice cream, and whipped cream is just heaven! Eight cups can be made in 25 minutes.*
What you’ll need:
- 1 Box NESTLÉ® DRUMSTICK® Peppermint Cones
- 1 Large container store-bought brownies or 9″ x 13″ pan homemade brownies (cut into 1 inch pieces)
- 1 Large containers whipped topping or real whipped topping
- 1 Large peppermint candy cane – crushed
Assembly Instructions:
- Cover the bottom of glass with cut brownies.
- Cover brownies with whipped topping.
- Open only the top portion of 1 NESTLÉ® DRUMSTICK® Peppermint Cone. Slide out the cone and cut the top off with a serrated knife. Set aside the top.
- Slide the cone portion back into the package. Use a mallet and crush the bottom cone portion in the package. Place the crushed pieces and any ice cream into the cup.
- Cover with whipped topping, followed by another layer of brownies.
- Place peppermint cone top onto the brownies.
- Top with a dollop of whipped topping and sprinkle crushed candy cane on top. Place in the freezer and assemble the remaining cups.
- Repeat the above steps for the remaining peppermint cones. Serve immediately or in 24 hours.
*25 minutes if using store-bought brownies and whipped topping.
Layered Peppermint Ice Cream Bowl
If you don’t want to bother with individual cups, this is the same concept as the Drumstick Peppermint Cups, but quicker to prepare.
What you’ll need:
- 1 Box NESTLÉ® DRUMSTICK® Peppermint Cones
- 1 Large container store-bought brownies or 9″ x 13″ pan homemade brownies
- 2 – 3 Large containers whipped topping
- 1 Large peppermint candy cane – crushed
- 1 Large bowl
Assembly Instructions:
- Cover the bottom of the bowl with a layer of brownies.
- Cover brownies with whipped topping.
- Using a mallet or bottom of a cup, crush all 3 plain peppermint cones in the package. Open the package. Place the crushed pieces and any ice cream into the bowl.
- Cover with whipped topping, followed by another layer of brownies.
- Crush remaining cones and place crushed pieces over the brownie layer.
- Top with remaining whipped topping. Sprinkle crushed candy cane on top. Serve immediately or in 24 hours.
