No Yeast Flat Bread
Super quick and easy no yeast flat bread. You can easily add your own fresh spices & herbs to put your own special touch on this basic no yeast flat bread recipe.
Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 cup cold water
- 3 tablespoons shortening (optional)
- 1 - 1 1/4 teaspoon salt (I use 1 tsp. if adding in cheese)
Directions
Step 1

Put all dry ingredients in the bowl and mix together. *If adding cheese or other fresh/dry ingredients, add it here* |
Step 2

Add shortening and cut into dry ingredients. You should get pea sized or smaller bits of shortening in the mix. |
Step 3

Add cold water and mix until a dough forms. If the dough is still too sticky, add a bit more flour till the dough pulls away from the bowl. Knead for 3-5 minutes. |
Step 4

Break dough into 16 equal balls. On a lightly floured surface, roll out into thin circles. I make mines approximately 5-6 inches wide. The thinner you make these the better. |
Step 5
|
Place a pan on medium heat and add a thin coat of butter or olive oil. Place bread circles in pan and cook until browned on each side. |
