A super rich and decadent sweet treat that mainly uses sandwich cookies, orange liqueur, pecans, and chocolate.
Ingredients
- 20 Oreo Cookies
- 1 1/2 cup pecans (walnuts can be substituted, but you will have a slightly different taste)
- 2 tablespoons orange juice or orange liqueur (I used Mimosa)
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 2 tablespoons cocoa Powder
- 1/2 teaspoon orange emulsion (optional)
- 1 tablespoon lard or shortening
- 10oz semi sweet chocolate chips
Note
Orange juice can be used in place of orange liqueur.
Directions
Step 1 | |
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside
Step 2 | |
In a food processor, combine cookies and 1 cup pecans. Pulse until cookies and pecans are crushed. Add liqueur, emulsion, honey, and cocoa powder. Pulse until everything is combined. Add in the remaining 1/2 cup pecans and pulse until you get coarsely chopped pecans.
Step 3 | |
Shape into 1 inch balls and place onto parchment lined baking sheet. Place lollipop sticks into each ball or leave as is. Place into the freezer for 30 minutes to harden.
Step 4 | |
In a double boiler, melt the chocolate chips and shortening on medium low heat. When the chocolate is melted, lower heat onto the lowest heat possible and begin to dip the balls half way or completely roll balls in chocolate. Place back onto the parchment lined baking sheet.
Step 5 | |
Once all the balls are covered in chocolate, place it back in to the freezer for 5-10 minutes. Serve cold or let it set out for a few minutes to slightly soften. |
