How to make Halloween Witch Hat Cookies. A fun Halloween Dessert using fudge covered cookies, truffle cones, frosting, and sprinkles.
Halloween is a holiday for fun and festive foodie delights. One of my favorite Halloween desserts to make and eat on October 31st are witch hat cookies. It’s delicious, easy to make, and all the ingredients can be found in your local supermarkets. Let me show you what you’ll need and how to prepare it in just a few quick steps.
Halloween Witch Hat Cookies
Ingredients:
- 1 package striped fudge cookies (or any other type of round cookie you like)
- 1 tube of colored frosting or homemade frosting would work too!. (I used geen gel frosting)
- 1 package mini truffle cones, about 5 per package (I used Acapella Truffle Cones in Cookies-n-Cream and there were 6 mini cones)
- Sugar sprinkles in green, orange, red, or purple. Choose a sprinkle that matches the frosting color or a Halloween mix.
Supplies:
- Small bowl for sprinkle dipping.
- Paper towels needed to keep fingers clean.
- Serving plate to display the Witch Hat Cookies.
- Piping Bag and piping tip if using your own frosting mix.
How to Make Halloween Witch Hat Cookies
Step 1. Prepare ingredients for assembly. Place cookies on a plate, fudge side down. Then, remove the mini truffle cones from the packaging. Next, cut the tip off the frosting tube. Set aside. Finally, add sprinkles into a small bowl.
Step 2. Add a circle of frosting on top of the cookie that is about the size of the top of the mini truffle cones.
Step 3. Next, add some frosting along the outside edge of the mini truffle cone.
Step 4. Then, roll or dip it into the sprinkles.
Step 5. Finally, place the truffle cone onto the cookie top and serve!
This is a dessert that’s both simple to put together and fun for kids of all ages, especially around Halloween time. So if you’re looking for something to do with your kids over the next few months, surprise them with a Witch’s Hat Cookie Dessert! You’ll be glad you did.
Can Witch Hat Cookies Be Made Ahead of Time?
I don’t recommend making these ahead of time as the mini truffle cones tend to get stale or soft. That being said, it’s super fast to put together and should only take 15 – 20 minutes (less if you have helpers). And because these cookies are so easy to make, it’s a great food project to do with kids for spooky season or a Halloween party boredom project.
