Fall Ribbon Burlap WreathIt’s been almost a month since the kids have started school. The past few weeks of getting settled into a new routine left me with no crafting time. Can we say…serious crafting withdrawals?! Now that things are settled, I can share my first fall craft of 2015. The inspiration of this wreath came from a wreath that I saw at Joann’s craft store. The cost was over $35 and I knew it would be easy to replicate something similar for less, so here is my less expensive version.

Fall burlap ribbon wreath suppliesFall Burlap Ribbon Wreath Supplies:

  • wreath form ( I used a 12″ wire form, but have used a pool noodle too)
  • 2 1/2″ wired burlap ribbon (Walmart)
  • scissors
  • hot glue/glue gun
  • burlap fabric or painter’s cloth
  • flowers (Dollar Tree has great fall flowers)

How to put together:

Covering the fall burlap ribbon wreath form

Step 1 –

Cut 1 1/2″ strips of cloth to wrap around the wreath form. I used several strips of painter’s cloth remnants to cover my wire wreath form.

Cut burlap ribbonStep 2 –

The size of the wreath form will determine the amount of cut burlap ribbon needed. For the 12″ wire wreath form, I used 9 – 3 1/2″ pieces for the top, 9 – 3″ pieces for the outside, and 9 – 2 1/2″ pieces for the inside.

Accordion fold one side of all the cut ribbons and glue together.

Glue burlap ribbon to wreathStep 4 –

Glue the 3 1/2″ ribbons in the center of the wreath. Space the ribbons about 2 1/2″ to 3″ apart.

Gluing Burlap Ribbon StripsStep 5 –

To cover the outer edge of the wreath, glue the 3″ burlap ribbons at an angle under the ribbon running down the center. Aim the lower edge to just meet the wreath form.

step 6Step 6 –

Using the 2 1/2″ ribbon, repeat this step for the inner wreath edge.

Step 7 –

Glue flowers onto the empty space on the wreath. Hang on a hook.

And now it’s done! For under $10, I now have unique Fall Burlap Ribbon Wreath!

Here is one that I made using a pool noodle…

Fall Burlap Ribbon Wreath using a Pool Noodle

To make the wreath using a pool noodle, make sure to wrap the entire noodle with fabric or the hot glue will melt it. The steps are the same as above, but the ribbon strips will need to be cut longer to cover the sides of the wreath. I also used two colors of burlap ribbon for this wreath.
