Last week, I introduced you to Dusty, our senior dog and our decision to switch to Purina® Pro Plan® BRIGHT MIND. It’s been 30 days since our switch and it’s time to share our results!
Even though Dusty is a senior dog, we haven’t had to deal with any major senior dog issues. However, around age 7, the glucose metabolism in a dog’s brain begins to change, which can affect memory, learning, and decision making. For Dusty, focus on previously mastered commands like “sit” and “lay down” had to be repeated several times before he would do them. He would lose interest in paying attention and would sometimes give you a look of – what do you want me to do?
Since our switch to Purina® Pro Plan® BRIGHT MIND, I’ve noticed an overall improvement in Dusty’s alertness and mental sharpness. Purina®’s unique formula of enhanced botanical oils has helped increase Dusty’s cognitive awareness. He is once again paying attention to commands and quicker to follow them, especially the “sit” command. Plus, he really enjoys eating Purina® Pro Plan® BRIGHT MIND, which is a good thing since he’s pretty active throughout the day.
Dusty’s Daily Dog Life:

He’s usually the first to wake and greets everyone with morning kisses before settling into his favorite morning spot. He sees the kids off to school, eats his breakfast, and then goes outside to spend the morning with his favorite doggy gal, Annabelle.
Of course, playing with Annabelle tires Dusty out and he comes in for a break and a quick nap. When I took this picture he gave me a “look” – I’m tired and not in the mood for photos.
After his mid-day nap, he made one of his daily rounds through the house and found my stash of craft pumpkins. Of course, he HAD to investigate them. He soon discovered that pumpkins are like a giant balls and ended up chasing them around the living room…silly dog! I now have my pumpkins up on a shelf where he can’t get to them.
Later, it was time to take a ride to pick up the kids. Car rides are one of Dusty’s favorite things and he always waits at the door when he hears the jingling of car keys.
Once the kids are home, there’s no time for rest. It’s the backyard for fetch or pushing his pet rock. Yes, Dusty has a river stone that he loves to push around the patio with his front paws. When he’s had enough backyard fun, we take Dusty on a walk through the neighborhood, feed him dinner, and he’s ready for another nap.
So far, I’m happy with the positive changes in Dusty and will continue feeding him Purina® Pro Plan® BRIGHT MIND.

Dusty is too cute! Our dog has never liked to play, even when he was a puppy. He only cares about birds or lizards in his yard and food, of course. Maybe I should switch his food! 🙂

Sometimes I think Dusty’s personality comes from getting him when the kids were so young. They would rile him up and get him all hyper. Sometimes he still acts like a big puppy, but he has calmed down a lot.
What a cute little fur baby! Glad to hear you’ve had such great results from Purina Pro Plan, it was the food brand of choice that the shelter used and recommended where we adopted our puppy.
Thanks Brenda. I’m glad we tried making the switch and it’s good to know that Purina was recommended by your shelter.
