The holiday season and school are now in full swing. During this time of year, I have a hectic schedule. In addition to my normal “to do” list, there’s holiday shopping, school holiday events, parties, and more. There are days when I can barely get my tasks done before I have to pick-up the kids, and we’re off to their next activity. In the hustle and bustle of the season, if I don’t bring a lunch, I’ll end up at a fast food restaurant eating a greasy burger and fries. That’s the reason I prefer to pack an on-the-go lunch for my extra busy days.

Holiday-Lunch

Holiday lunch – turkey stockings, tomato/mozzarella ornaments, carrot trees, broccoli, and snowman rice balls.

I can hear all of you saying, “Pack a lunch! I don’t even have time to breathe!”. I hear what you’re saying and can relate, but packing a lunch will save you money and help you eat healthier. We all want that, right?

For me, packing a fun lunch isn’t challenging and has become a routine. However, sometimes lunch isn’t enough to carry me through the entire day, and I need an after-lunch snack. Unfortunately, I have a tendency to gravitate towards junk food. Somehow, chips and cookies always find their way into my lunch bag. And after creating a healthy lunch, I hate that I’m eating an unhealthy snack.

V8-Protein-Bars-Shakes-Shelves

Luckily for me, Walmart has the new V8 Protein Bars and Shakes  in the diet and nutrition aisle, near health and beauty. There are a total of six flavors. So far, I’ve tried two bar flavors and two shake flavors: Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar, Oatmeal Raisin Bar, Chocolate Shake, and Vanilla Shake. I found all of them delicious, but my favorite was the Oatmeal Raisin Bar and Chocolate Shake.

V8-Chocolate-Peanut-Butter-BarThe shakes are made with protein from peas, soy, milk, and brown rice that are blended with vegetables like sweet potato and carrots. Then, these are sweetened with honey, brown rice syrup, and sugar. In fact, the bars taste so yummy, that I can’t even tell these contain a 1/4 cup of vegetables and as much fiber as 2 cups of kale!V8-Protein-Bars-Shakes-Box-1

But do you want to know the best part of adding these bars and shakes to my lunch bag? I don’t miss the junk food! Plus, I have a healthier snack alternative and the satisfaction of eating good-for-you food to get me through my family’s busy schedule. Thank you V8 Protein Bars and Shakes. There will be no more cookies or chips in my lunch bag.

Holiday-Lunch-Box-Gift-BasketIn the spirit of the holiday season, why not help a friend create their own on-the-go lunch? Gift them the tools to pack their own healthy lunches by creating a Holiday Lunch Box Gift Basket.
