Coastal Sea Shell Wreath

Whew! I finally completed my Coastal Sea Shell Wreath. It’s another interchangeable wreath for my gallery wall and fits the beach theme for summer.

I didn’t take a lot of assembly photos for this wreath, but you can view my interchangeable Burlap Flowers and Moss Spring Wreath for the beginning stages.

Coastal Sea Shell Wreath Supplies:

  • prepared styrofoam wreath form
  • various shells
  • package craft netting (usually has two pieces of netting in the bag)
  • hot glue or E6000 (use E6000 if the wreath is going on a door)
  • pins
  • cardboard

Directions:

interchangeable wreath backing

To keep my wreath interchangeable, I use cardboard boxes as the base to attach the wreath decorations.

  • Trace the wreath form onto cardboard.
  • Cut out the cardboard form.
Gluing Sea Shells
Sea shells for right side of wreath

Here’s where I skipped pictures…sorry. For this wreath, I used the majority of sea shells on the left side and a small amount on the right. I used heavy cardboard for the left side to hold the weight of the sea shells and heavy cardstock for the right side. Also, if you are planning on placing this outdoors or on a door, use E6000 because it holds better than hot glue.

Right side (shown in images above) –

  • Arrange shells and netting in a pattern you like.
  • Glue onto cardstock.
  • Trim around the sea shells and cut away the cardstock.

Left side (use cardboard)-

  • Cut the cardboard to the length you desire that fits onto the left side of the wreath (see St. Patrick’s Wreath).
  • Arrange shells and netting in a pattern you like. I left the netting in one piece and wove it through the shells as the shells were glued down.
  • Glue onto the cardboard.
  • Trim around the sea shells and cut away the cardboard.

Netting-sea-shell-wreath

  • Drape netting from left to right side of the wreath. Attach with pins onto the back of the wreath.
  • Glue small shells to the draped netting.
  • Arrange the sea shell cardboard/cardstock onto the front of the wreath.

Pin sea shells to wreath

  • Attach the shells to the wreath by pinning through the cardstock/cardboard in several areas until the shells are secure.

I hope you like my Coastal Sea Shell Wreath and third interchangeable wreath of the year. Stay tuned for a fall and holiday wreath.
